The Pilot Parallel represents a breakthrough in calligraphy pen design. Rather than a standard nib design the parallel features two parallel plates allowing the writer to produce a sharp line with the edge of the plates or a broad line with the flat of them.
The Parallel is also refillable and cartridges can be changed in the pen to create graduated colour lines and mixed colours. Cartridges come in either a box of six single colours, or a box of 12 assorted colours. Note that the cap of the pen denotes the nib size, not the ink colour.
The nibs of two Parallel pens can be touched together to mix colours and produce beautiful colour graduations.
